On August 5, Alexander Ping-kong Wai, President of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) led a delegation to visit Nanjing University. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, met with the delegation at the Xianlin Campus.

On behalf of NJU, Tan Tieniu extended a warm welcome to Ping-kong Wai and his delegation. He pointed out that in recent years, NJU has attached great importance to exchanges and cooperation with all sectors of Hong Kong, achieving a series of significant outcomes. NJU and HKBU enjoy a longstanding foundation of collaboration. The two universities complement each other in their strengths in areas such as intelligent sciences and humanities and social sciences, aligning closely in their development directions and showing vast cooperation potential. Tan Tieniu expressed his hope that NJU and HKBU would further deepen practical cooperation and work together to achieve high-quality development on a new level.

Ping-kong Wai introduced the basic situation of HKBU. He noted that in facing the opportunities and challenges brought by the development of artificial intelligence, HKBU is committed to leveraging its strengths in both science and arts, actively promoting interdisciplinary construction, and facilitating cultural dissemination and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Ping-kong Wai expressed his hope that HKBU and NJU will continue to enhance exchanges and broaden cooperation in more areas such as technological innovation and cultural heritage, exploring new models of collaboration together.

Participants at the meeting engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as university-industry collaboration, cultural exchange, technological innovation, and teacher-student exchanges.

Relevant leaders from HKBU, the Hong Kong Jiangsu Enterprises Association, the Federation of HK Jiangsu Community Organisations, the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Jiangsu Province, and relevant departments of NJU attended the meeting.
