On August 5th, Michael Ngai, Chairman of the Council of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) led a delegation to visit Nanjing University. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, met with Ngai and his delegation at the Xianlin Campus.
On behalf of Nanjing University, Tan Tieniu extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation led by Michael Ngai. He provided an overview of NJU's discipline development, faculty construction, talent cultivation, and its "one university, two cities, four campuses" structure. Tan Tieniu emphasized that CityUHK is an important partner of NJU and that the two universities have maintained close exchanges, achieving a series of collaborative results. He noted the vast space for cooperation between the two universities in fields such as artificial intelligence, materials science, new energy, integration of industry and education, internationalization of education, course development, and joint problem-solving efforts. He expressed his anticipation for the two institutions to further deepen and expand their practical cooperation, jointly explore new paths for inter-university collaboration, and inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of both universities.
Michael Ngai introduced the fundamental aspects of the educational development at CityUHK. He pointed out that in recent years, CityUHK has continued to expand its international cooperation network, achieving substantial progress in various collaborative initiatives. Michael Ngai stated that he hopes both universities, based on their strong foundation of cooperation, can fully leverage their respective strengths to continually broaden the scope of collaboration, innovate cooperation models, enhance the level of international education, deepen the integration of technological and industrial innovation, and cultivate top-tier talent in innovation and entrepreneurship, thereby contributing greater efforts to regional economic and societal development.
